This is such a unique and an unusual lens that I have ever purchased. First of all, it has massive amount of barrel distortion. And then, it is very wide. You can even see your own foot when you are shooting at the widest angle of 10mm. At the 17mm focal length, the distortion effect will be reduced significantly and this lens makes a very good wide angle lens. There are some drawbacks on this lens however. The lens clearly displays some chromatic aberration, especially when you shoot at the 10mm focal length. You need to stop down by at least 2 stops to reduce this effect. Next, there is also some slight vignetting. Stopping down by two stops will also help here or if you prefer, you can edit both in post processing.
Sigma 8-16mm Behave Like a Fisheye Lens?

That is, they do not want the extreme distortion that a fisheye lens can produce. Given the focal length, it is normal to think of such a thing. In this review, I will be revealing whether this lens behaves like a fisheye lens or not. After using this lens for around 2 weeks, I can see that there is some distortion on the lens. However, the distortion is not to an extreme degree and can be easily corrected in post processing. Given this, you should not too overly worry about the distortion characteristics on this lens. You can easily use this lens for any landscape shooting or street photography. However, I would not advise using this lens for architecture photography though. The distortion will make the buildings look awkward and unappealing. And you cannot easily correct it in post processing when this happen.
